I actually did get everything I had ordered from him although I wondered sometimes. Oddly enough, when I first talked to him, ordering his Pfalz DIII kits, he told me about a contest in Evansville, Indiana. I decided to go (hadn't been to a plastic model contest since 1971) and there met a group of modellers from Louisville. I ended up joining their club (had never belonged to a model club before, and had never heard of their club) and some of them I count among my best friends now. That association led me to RMS and there I heard about this group. Lucky, I guess. Peter, go to the Search page from the home page. There you have various search options, so select scale 1/48 and type "keyword" WWI. This will bring up some items, but remember you'll get everything that has WWI or WWII in its description (computers are dumb and don't know the difference between the world wars....). And many WWI items don't have WWI in the decscription. A better way to search is by scale and maker or scale and plane (e.g. I tried 1/72 and Junkers to see if there were any D1s around. Got loads of 88s and 52s, but also the gem of a Czechmaster J1, which I now have). And if this sounds like the voice of experience, it is - I've spent far too much time searching for stuff to buy. No wonder Nigel Hannant has a nice car....but all power to his elbow, I say. BTW, all this talk of Czechmaster prompts me to say how nice the kits are (well, a least the one I've bought - are the rest as good...?). I just bought my first one (a Junkers J1), and it is superb. They have a number of interesting OT subjects, so I shall be ordering more (mind you, munchkin scale only....). Look forward to the review of the new kit in IM. Interestingly, the Arado Ar-95 (obviously the logical conclusion of the design philosophy of the W.12) began life as a Classic Resin Airframes release (they work with MPM) and when Classic Airframes dropped the resin line was released - according to the advert - as a Czechmaster kit, and arrived in a Planet Models box. All of this is to say that their quality is quite good for what they are; the Ar-95 was a very fun build for someone experienced in doing biplanes, as have been their other biplanes in both resin and limited-run injection, but they are not kits for the beginner in the field. They are generally good to excellent, spoilt only by the horrid dark green resin they started with. As Tom says they' re not strictly for beginers, many kits have only an exploded view to help with construction, and usually no decals. But they can be built into very nice models if you have plenty of references and time. I have 14 of them, mostly early issues, and of course Allied a/c, the latest is a Curtiss Jenny which is going to be a real challenge as it has no instructions at all, just loads of small resin parts some of which are un-identifiable. He says he is recovering well now and that he hopes to be ok soon. He also attached the following bit he said I could forward to the rest of us, so here it goes: Quote: PS. The 1/72 EDUARD Albatros kit is available now and is quite cheap here. It is magnificent kit and I think it is one of the best 1/72 ww1 kits ever produced. Another new 1/72 kit here is the MAC production Fokker E.IV. Nice box art, very nice decals but all the rest you could throw away. If you want to build a Fokker E.IV replica from this kit then please go from scratch. I am afraid no single part of the kit is usable without major reshaping or surgery. What a shame!! Maybe you remember the firm of GAVIA. I have posted on wwi list in 1998 that they want to produce a 1/48 Zeppelin/Staaken. The kit is seriously delayed (if ever will be produced), but the boys of GAVIA bring nice surprise in the form if 1/48 Fokker D.II. Did not see the kit yet, but the rumours say it is quite nice. If you think this informations could be of use for another list members, please post them, because as I say, I am not currently on the list.
