Really nice! That Hustad really knows how to build a master. The first set is the correction set. Included are: Replacement upper wing Separate Ailerons Replacement horizontal tail Replacement engine Replacement spinner Separate wire for engine push rods All in all an excellent set!! However, my wing is not only warped, but also very "pebbly". I may mail (notice I said "mail" and not "email") Hawkeye and request a replacement. Not for the warp, but the "pebbleness". Sanding that will remove the excellent detail on the upper wing. However, I feel I just received a "fluke" because the rest of the resin parts are excellent with no flaws at all. Highly recommended. Now, if I had the publishers e-mail address I could start > my own spam campaign. Anybody have it? Anybody game? Well, the book was published by Model and Allied Pubs / Argus Books, publishers of Scale Models at the time. I can only guess that the inheritors of that publishers properties is Nexus, but also assume that, since copyright is certain to still be Harry's this should be a two pronged effort. One - write to Nexus asking if they still have the rights (or whatever) and suggesting they might reprint the book at some point given its rarity and desirability Two - write to HW himself. I haven't personally had any contact, but I'm sure some of the Blighty members have met him. In any case, the people I know who *have* corresponded with him have led me to believe that he's quite approachable though I *don't* think a blitz of unsolicited mail would be the best way to get his support. Better if someone who's met him through modelling or C&C sees if he's willing to give the publishers a shove. I for one, would buy several copies - mine is utterly buggered, and I use a photocopy while the original sits in a ziplock bag, dogeared and with its spine all broken. Never again - I need a copy for the bench, and the shelf, and the travelling case and to allow at least one to be stolen..... Yikes !! It just occurs to me that the book is *nearly* 25 years old. Maybe it should be an anniversary edition with a foreward from St Harry noting the changes in the hobby wrought since this book appeared. ************************************************************** The information contained in this E-Mail is confidential and is intended only for the use of the addressee(s). I have in front of me HA-047 British Roundels w/ white border which have five different size roundels and a copy of Windsock71 LVG C.V. One of the decals looks like a perfect match for the profile and there are three sizes larger and one smaller (maybe 1/72). I have not tried to use them, but they look very nice and you get two. They also have about twenty other sets. Price was $5.00 and they have quite a few different sets. Check out the various wargaming on-line stores or write to them at 35 Baincroft Rd., Box C Malden, MA 02148 Hope this helps. I'm not sure this would work for all markings, but it might be forth looking into. I would hate for the sheet to restrict the buyer to building it one way. You may have to deal with some "hate mail" from those that either don't that the kit needs correcting or just didn't read the "fine print" Courtney ----- Original Message ----- From: ERIC HIGHT To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Monday, August 30, 1999 2:54 PM Subject: Re: RE: BIG news. > to all > i am thinking of doing both corrected and uncorected side markings if space > allows(which i think it should). i will need the corrected dimentions for > the artist. the loz. should be in the 8.00 to 12.00 range per set. now > you really can have at it. tia > eric > > ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 20:56:07 -0500 From: "Charles and Linda Duckworth" To: "ww1FAQ" Subject: Two new books Flying Circus and RNAS - anyone seen? There were three basic versions of the D.III, and the correction cover versions two and three, while the conversion covers the first version. Definitely plenty of differences.
