Saggy rigging indeed. Yep! It really left a lot of people stunned. Fwiw, other OT models of note included a nearly perfect Baby with wood floats(now I know NOT to spend a lot of time on that cockpit), a couple of nice looking DML Dr.I's, a rather well done N.17(non PP version) that somehow managed to qualify as the only OOB entry in spite of the scotch tape over the wing cut-out. There was also a scratch-built Gotha G-II float plane in 1/72 that was very nice. mmmmm???? I just tried to do a mental count of all the OT entries. I can only come up with 18,(I swear I counted twenty at some point) and two of those(big D-VII's) were moved into the large scale catagory. They weren't very good, and were pitted against a big Spad(which was very good) along with some other real nice big models. I don't know how the Spad, or the HB, or the Alb. dio faired in the judging. As soon as I found out I won third, I ducked out of the ceremony and went to the bar. :) E. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Jul 1999 06:53:32 +0100 From: "Len Smith" To: Subject: Re: Where in Paris is the Musee de l'Air? Only thing that I found could be improved is the way some detail parts join in at the main body. A bit to clumsy and crude IMHO. But if done by an expert as you it'll turn out fine, I'm sure. Hardest part is to fix the protective rails that run from from to the rear. The instruction are worthless here. But I glued the top rail and then forced the front and rear bits into place and secured them with CA. That was also Glen's approach to it, but I'm sure he'll be able to say something more. Ah, don't forget to throw asway the machine guns and substitute them for some hypo tubing or streched sprue or whatever. (Come to think of it I haven't painted mine yet, time to hit the paint rack...) This is announced as "The first injection kit in the world", which I presume differentiates it from the vacuform. Message-ID: Hi gang! 'Way back on July 5th, I posed the question,"Both the Profile and the Datafile state, IIRC, that the Sopwith Triplane was put to trials in the US. Did it wear US markings at any time during it's sojourn?" Judging from the deafening silence (read "zero responses"), I would tend to come to one of two conclusions: 1) The Sopwith Triplane NEVER appeared in US markings. or 2) There is no documented evidence to support it one way or the other, only hearsay. (Ever notice how close hearsay and heresy are in spelling?) Any opinions as to which one would be the most likely? Thanks in advance! Alan R.
