The local manufacturer/repair shop said they'd had in a couple of identical crashes. Have to replace the mother board, and the hard drive is cleaned off. No sign of a virus - apparently it deletes itself with the rest of the BIOS and hard drive data. Re-install everything: drivers (video, mouse, modem, etc etc) programs. It is to weep. I hope no minds being advised of this item on the list. It is worthy of extensive distribution. Perhaps we can activate some Police action in regard to this kind of activity. For myself I consider the following to be a totally disgusting practice. No wonder there is so much vandalism in Bexar County Texas cemetaries and other locations. Consider this letter next time you contact EBay. You may be dealing in stolen goods. It appears they do not care what they sell! The next one could be your son, your father or one of your deceased veteran relatives. Quoting from the letter> These items were once in place on someone's grave, and each state has laws forbidding vandalism to graves. I encourage all on this list to respond to eBay and/or to the sellers as you feel led. #95765135 is a GAR grave marker, marked "County Commissioners, West Chester, PA." The seller refers to its having been 'used.' The name of the seller is "1sterling," and the item is located in New Jersey. The seller's e-mail address is: sterlingcenter@world.att.net #95765620 is also a GAR grave marker, in a different style, marked with the number "15" in the design of the front, with the back marked only "AMERICA," which may refer to the foundry. Again, the seller refers to 'signs of use.' Same location, same seller, same address. #96301772 is a Korean War veterans grave marker. The seller is located in West Tennessee. The seller's e-mail address is: hbuild36@aol.com #98328212 is a "World War Veterans Marker." Possibly World War I, but I am not sure of that. Located in Michigan. Sellers address is capcornr@klondyke.net #96742252 is World War II Veterans grave marker. Advertised as an "eagle" grave marker presented by the County Commissioners." Back marked "Philadelphia, PA," but that may again refer to a foundry. Located in Penndel, PA. Sellers address is tmaw@netcarrier.com On Sun, 2 May 1999 00:42:56 -0500 "Carlene M. I use ebay a great deal and, when I return home tonight, I am going to contact a few of these sellers. If I dont like the answers I get, I will contact ebay itself. Some while ago, ebay established the policy of not permitting the sale of firearms on their system, they may have something to say about this as well. btw - I have met some fine people through buying books, etc. on ebay. I wouldnt want list members to think these people dealing in markers represent the typical auction community there. If you are stuck in the hotel room during the evenings I have found that paper models kill the time nicely. You don't need many tools (X-acto knife, scissors & Elmer's glue). The models themselves are cheap and easy to get. It all travels fairly well too. Fiddlers Green has a downloadable Gotha V at: http://fiddlersgreen.net/aircraft.htm/gotha.htm/gotha.htm Not too bad for $3.50. I noticed the larger scale night bomber version looks really nice. My uncle recovered a tombstone from the bank of the Kankakee River in Wilmington Illinois. After dragging the thing back to his truck he took it to the police station hoping they could find the owner. He noticed it sitting by the dumpster the next day. My uncle recovered it again and gave it to my mom. Now it stands at the top of her stairs.(Which I think is weird, but that's even more off topic). And no, I don't think it is for sale. While not trying to defend these sellers of tombstones, whom I do not know, I wanted to point out that at least one was found. A reasonable effort to return it was attempted too.
