Well, I couldn't resist digging my remaining copy of  Enemy Ace out of hiding.
It's really DC Showcase No57 JulyAugust 1965.The comment was made that more
than just the usual airplanes were drawn. The odd ones as I flip through the
pages:
Martinsyde G.102 (strafing trains)
Hanriot HD1
Roland D II
a brooding sequence where he ponders a collage of flaming DH2,Sop Baby, a
possible Bleriot, and other stuff.
Now, tying all this up to a few cryptic references to a nifty little movie
called 'Christmas Story', the comic book features a nice full page ad on the
back cover for Daisy BB guns.

There was a hard-bound set published in 6 (or more?) volumes that included 
WWI and WWII. They're very hard to find and cost a fortune if you can get
a full set. I've seen them go for $50 a volume! I just can't justify $300 
for these considering I'm not really into WWII that much. That's why I'm
trying to get a full set of just the WWI ones to bind myself. That way I'll
have exactly what I want. I'm 6 profiles away from having the complete set
of WWI aircraft. When I get them all I'll send them out to a book binder to
have them bound.

Hi WWI-Modelers,

   Since it's the ice and snow season I though I'd fill everyone in on how
the list works a little bit. If your mailbox fills up, your account is 
unreachable (due to your ISP being down, say like in an ice-storm, etc)
or for any other reason your mail address is unable to receive mail, the
program that runs the list will automaticly delete your subscription to
this list. 
   The program does this as a self-preservation technique. If it didn't do 
this my computer's disks would quickly fill up with bounced mail and the list
would come to a grinding halt, along with my computer. I'm sorry if this
inconviences anyone. If you get deleted and the problem that caused you to
be removed has been solved please re-subscribe using the normal subscription
procedures.

On other lists, there is a DIGEST command which is quite useful,
specially when you're on holidays somewhere far from your computer (in
my case, on my sail boat). All the messages are then joined under only
one heading, each day. Have you anything like this on your list ?

Send a message to wwi-request@pease1.sr.unh.edu with the message:

set wwi mail digest

in the body of the mail. When you come back you can set it back to 

set wwi mail ack

The survey is biased against us dual scalers. As I alternate scales with
each new project, I have no primary scale. I voted twice, once each for
1:72 & 1:48 :-)

Thanks Al, you just made me feel wealthy!  There were 14 volumes (and I
got 'em all...) and the last ten profiles were not issued bound (but I
got them too); there were also 'tween the wars and (horror of horrors)
postwar jets covered in addition to the two WWs.

I'm taking off on holiday - but in case anybody has designs on my
Profiles I'm leaving the two dogs (120 pounds/55Kg) at home!  Will check
in when I get back.

You probably meant a different Dave, but the short answer is.... yup!
The later releases switched to a slightly larger format, with blue trim in
stead of pink, but the same general idea.

OK, well Nostalgic Plastic has a box full of these but at $4.00 per 
profile, I've had to be a bit conservative.  I'm not really interested in 
collecting them, and only interested in the ones that I might want as 
reference for future building.

I've seen lots of discussion in these august portals about copyright, so I'm
surprised you're really making this request. If you want to read an article
printed in a Cross and Cockade International journal (and why not - they
have some damn fine info in them), can I suggest that you contact the sales
manager, and buy one? Virtually all are still available - certainly 26/2.
Not that dear, either. Look at our web site and dig into the sales pages.
And there's a full article index for all 29 volumes too.

You might even find that the Serial Database is of interest - or (heaven
forfend) you want to join :-)

A couple of things about Eduard 1/72 2-seater Strutter.  First, the 
rigging diagram in the box appears at odds with that in the Datafile, 
Albatros publication.  The side rigging stretching from the tail elevator 
horn attaches just behind the gunner's cockpit on the fuselage side, 
according to the Datafile.  In the kit, this attaches to the front side 
of the pilot's cockpit.  The kit also missies the rigging that goes from 
the middle of the top of the rear "W" cabane strutt to the fuselage side 
at the front of the pilot's cockpit.

Finally, I made the mistake of using the black coloured 
semi-crcle/arch-shaped cutout on the pilot's gun.  I now realize that 
this should be transparent since it represents the site and windshield, I 
think.  How do I unglue the black phot-plastic bit from the brass etched 
gun part?
