These are for sale. I was given a 37 page list of books that are available from UTD. These are duplicates of books in the library. The funds raised from the sale of these books will be used to continue the cataloging work, binding of periodicals etc. It will also be used to continue to obtain materials for the library. If anyone is interested I will post the list as I have time to write it up. The prices seem pretty fair to me, but I am not expert. Example: Author Title Cond Date Cost Rimell, Raymond L. World War One in the Air Paperback. Signed by Author to Ed Ferko VG 1988 $30 Bishop, William A. Winged Warfare, 1st Edition G 1918 $40 It may be easier for to put this into a MS Word file and email it to anyone who is interested. Compared with the price of a Datafile one gets many times the information in these relatively inexpensive publications, including a number of photos that have not been published in other publications. These are well worth the money. Charles hartc@spot.colorado.edu ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Feb 1998 18:39:00 +0100 From: "Tom Werner Hansen" To: Subject: Nie.17 cowling. Message-ID: <199802061727.SAA10235@d1o211.telia.com> Nungesser's Nieuport 17. One quick question: Was there any difference in the surface treatment of the all-silver Nieuports? Were the cowlings and aluminium panels left in natural metal or covered with the same aluminium dope as the fabric parts. I'm in the process of final assembly of Nungesser's Nie.17, and everything is sprayed silver. However, there is time to cover the cowling with aluminium foil if that would be correct. Tom. PS to Al. I'd like a copy of the frequently talked-about CD. I'll contact you later about postage to Europe. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Feb 1998 11:35:58 -0600 (CST) From: djones@iex.com (Doug Jones) To: wwi Subject: Tidbits from the sale list Message-ID: <9802061735.AA10875@deimos.tx.iex.com> I promise to get the whole list in as quick as I can! The photos all seem to show a contrast in tone between the cowling and the fabric covered areas of the fuselage - indicating that the cowlings were _not_ aluminum doped like the fabric. The fact that the cowlings appear metal and not doped on the camouflaged Nieuports would lend support to this surmise. You're using the dull side of the aluminum foil up, right? The shiny side would be too bright I would think. How do you get the foil to follow the curves on the cowling without getting wrinkles?
