Had a look at the Harleyford drawings and they're good basic 3-Vs,
although I can't vouch for their absolute accuracy as I'm not really
acquainted with the aircraft. If you want 'em, just say the word.
They're a bit large, so I may have to copy them in separate pages & you
may have to piece 'em together.

This object was about 6 ft in diameter and had no tyre, in fact it didn't
 have what I recognise as a rim. It was described as a "wheel from a Poll
 Giant Triplane". The staff told me it was recovered near Cologne from a
 pile of part built remains in 1919.      < snip>         I'm intrigued and
would appreciate more info on this aircraft if anyone has any.
  
I saw a GA of this aircraft plus a photo of a guy standing next to the wheel
in a book titled, "Triplanes".  Something like that.  The aircraft had several
push-pull engines.  I thought about building a rudimentary model of one about
20 years ago.  Still thinking about it.  Would be something really different.

I have since made use of this site, and found Richard Bell Davies'
autobiography that I had mentioned on the list a few months ago. To make a
long story short the book was sent two days ago and it arrived today - great
service. I also saw the JM Bruce *British Aeroplanes* book from $90, $125
and $200 US. As I won't be able to afford this for the next while, perhaps
one of you can :-) BTW although all prices are listed as $US, the Canadian
retailer I contacted only charged me the quoted amount as $Cdn - a nice
savings.

In response to Patrick's wonderings about the Pegasus W.4, I pulled out
the Mrlin kit and took a look.  The Merlin kit is a late type, all
around.  Late floats, with a wing mounted radiator.  Granted, the Pegasus
is hands down better, but if you were a masochist you could take the
Merlin wing and mount it on the Pegasus for a completely late bird.

There were a few "hybrids".  On pages 4 and 5 of the Minidatafile, there
are pictures of birds with the late floats, but still sporting the
fuselage mounted radiators.

Unfortunately you're on your own for the earlier floats.  Barry?  Another
idea...;-)

Am I the only one who wishes Pegasus/MPM/whomever would supply beaching
"dollies" with their seaplanes?
