Contact me Off List if you want borrow my copy. Speaking of N-9H's, I just received in the mail today a packet of N-9H drawings from the Emil Buehler Naval Aviation Library. Boys, did I ever miss on the cockpit. No joysticks like a JN-4, Wheels on a strange yoke. These are nice drawings and show both the OXX-6 and Hisso engine installations, rigging, cockpit & controls details and 2 sheets of Hisso engine drawings. Message-ID: <199812250656.WAA04475@compass.OregonVOS.net> To follow up on my previous comment on the color of PC 12, there is an article on discussing this color in Windsock V.3, No. 1 (spring, 1987) with two paint chip samples illustrating the color. The first is a brownish- brick red, identified as "close to Methuen 9E8" and is given as the color of freshly applied PC 12. The second is a lighter reddish-brown (tending much more towards the brown), identified as "close to Methuen 9E6" and is given as "matched to a typical and well worn colour from a DH9A based in India". Searching through my notes, I find a scribbled note which indicates Floquil "box car red" is a close match for the first color chip. Thus it appears that PC 12 and American railroad box cars were of similar hues. The article also contains some interesting speculation, with some supporting evidence, that most, if not all, of the RNAS Sopwith Tripes were finished with PC 12 and not in PC 10 as is generally accepted. "Black Maria" was actually RED - wouldn't that be a hoot! But, gotta go. I hear the prancing and pawing of little hoofs and it's time to stuff stockings. Please, Santa, bring me an Eduard Sopwith Tripe! So did anyone else happen to get the JN-4 ornament from Hallmark this year? Pretty neat. 1/100 or thereabouts, I would guess. With some basic rigging done up in black thread. She actually wants to try to buy me a WWI kit!! I can go to Bridgetown Hobbies and turn her loose on the WWI Kit shelf! (they do carry some WWI Topics) Her only worry was "what if I get a kit you already have".... I explained to her that both Ernst Udet and Richtofen flew many different Albatri DV aircraft.... With all the different decals and color schemes we have available, where could she go wrong..... Merry Christmas to you all..... I have just about finished the bottle of peppermint schapps!!!
