But I was dissapointed to find only a bunch of them. Many modelling projects on the workshop tables or... my computer had Emails for breakfast? By the way, I've read the passing of Mr. Kotula in Flight magazine. I've never knew his work before, but the same article featured some of his works, of course in little, little space, but even so I was impressed by his work. I always liked to draw planes, and I love the looks of the classic illustrations of old magazines. I have a collection of "Bill Barnes" at home just for the covers. I wish I lived in the thirties. -----Mensaje original----- De: KarrArt@aol.com Para: Multiple recipients of list Fecha: Lunes 7 de Diciembre de 1998 4:09 AM Asunto: anybody out there? >Howdy- anybody out there? Excellent book, and it's about time on a French subject! I just started reading it so I can't comment on that. However, some excellent pictures - mostly of the pilots themselves - and Greg Van Wyngarden provides a "color" section complete with tonal drawings. In his "color" section, Greg thanks Dr. Merrill, so for all those that don't have his decal sheet yet for Le Cigognes is really missing out. Highly recommended. London VG+ Condtion 2/"The Battle Below being the History of 3 Squadron Australian Flying Corp".Wrigley,Sydney 1935. 200 Copies.Ills.,maps,awards,Roster.Quite scarce even in Australia they went for 50 and 75 $US respectively. Unfortunately i was at an Xmas party so missed the last two hours of the bidding. Has anyone seen these for sale or offered since? Does anyone own a copy of either? I would kill for a copy of the 1 AFC book hahahaha. I also bought not so long ago the book "men and machines of the AFC 1914 to 1919" and found today it is for sale at : http://www.sympac.com.au/jtboundy/HkookaFO.htm for 25$ Aust which is a bargain in US dollars , i bought it at auction for about that price in Au$'s. Am looking for other books on the AFC via web. Does anyone know of any other sources for Australian Flying Corps books other than the web? I was watching that auction too and it broke my heart. Once it gets into that price range, I become a spectator. Ebay has been very erratic the past few days - they got so much publicity over their stock price lately that I thing a lot of newcomers have swamped the system. Regarding availability of these two books - I have noted every WWI aviation book (and its price) sold on ebay since July and this is the first time I saw these. What's more, I couldn't even find a price for them at the usual resale places (UTD, Byrd, Aeroplane Books, Articles of War..etc). I bid a little (my ebay name is Vulture2) but when I dialed them up on Sunday afternoon to get a bit more serious, they were already way out of my price range. I have entered into my files that you are looking for this book, so if I run across it (and cant afford it myself) I will let you know. Yeh I bid to 50 for the 3 AFC book and to 40 for the 1 AFC book, both i thought were too exorbant but i bid them anyway.
