Prices are the original published price or (as near as I can remember) what I paid for them. Many are out of print and quite a few are rare and much more expensive today. I would like to sell the entire group to the highest bidder, but if there is little interest, I will sell by the book. I collected these while building museum-quality 1/72 scale models mostly from scratch. While many are autobiographies, most are complete with illustrations and color plates. The kit of Farman H.F. 30 sits in certain stage of construction on my workbench, so I will try to answer some questions. The H.F.30 represented together with H.F.27 the final development of the basic H.F.20 design( pusher biplane). Powered by the Canton-Unne engine, the H.F.30 was fitted with pair of mainwheels underneath the lower wings(no quadracycle gear layout). There were at least three types of fuselage gondola. The H.F.30 was not probably accepted by French Aviation Militaire, but the IRAS acquired a large number of this aeroplanes.(according to FMP books approximately 400, built by the DUKS company). They remained in service well into the twenties. The documentation on the type is poor( I can recommend the FMP French ac book-1/144 ac GA, three photos, the FMP IRAS book is not available for me now). I try to find more photos and informations for my project, but with no luck untill now. The Omega kit is an all resin one. In my humble opinion the kit is nice, parts are not warped, the trailing edges and detail throughout acceptable. OMEGA Kits is a very small company but the men behind are nice guys to deal with. They hope to produce decals for their kits as separate items very soon. The on topic stuff in their catalogue contains three variants of H.F.30, Sikorski S.XVI(more accurate than DAKO one for me), Sopwith Comic (is available here), the above mentioned kits and now the Voisin 10 and Albatros BII. For Polish people Nov 11th is rather Independence Recovery Day (national = holiday - just like July 4th for Americans). Armistice brought us = independence recovery after 123 years of Russian, Prussian and Austrian = occupation. WW I was no war of ours although we fought damn hard. Simply Polish = soldiers fought in several armies against each other. For example there = were lot of Polish pilots in Russian aviation (Mroczkowski - top Polish = WWI ace), German aviation (Garsztka was the best scorer there), French = aviation (Pawlikowski - future CO of Brygada Poscigowa - Fighter = Brigade) and of course KK aviation (Peter, Stec) so neither side of the = conflict was mine. Sadly the time for "Polish" wars would come very soon in boiling central = and eastern Europe: Wielkopolska uprising against Germans, three = Silesian uprisings against Germans, war for Lwow against Ukrainians, = great war against Soviet Russia and short "coup d'etat" in Wilno against = Lithuania. You'll also see part of Jack's signature backwards in the left corner. The Feds just don't know how to run the finances of a country. Hey, all those years of deficit financing have to catch up to you sometime. Man, if I ran my household the way the Federal Government does the country, I would be on the street and destitute! Unfortunately the Riders have taken the old Argos play book to heart. Don't know if you ever saw the book, but it was published in the lean years of the Argonauts. It had one page diagramming a simple running ply, one diagram of a simple pass play, a diagram of a punt, and the rest of the book was blank. Quite the hoot back then, now it's come to haunt the Riders. Sharon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Nov 1998 09:55:45 +1000 From: Shane Weier To: "'wwi'" Subject: Roland C.II markings Message-ID: Hello all, I have a question about Walfisch markings which may have a bearing on how I complete a project in the near future. On the front and inside front cover of Profile 163 are drawings of a Roland C.II Wllfisch. The test reads "Roland C.II "Walfisch" flown by Leutnant Seibert and Hauptmann Pfleger of Feld Flieger Abteilung 5b; Western Front, autumn 1916" The aircraft is adorned with a black set of fish lips and fish eye similar to those in the Airfix kit, though the mounth is slightly open. It is NOT Eduard Ritter von Scheich's machine - which has mouth closed. The aircraft is painted in the light blue finish but has a geometric representation of fish scales extending from just forward of the radiators to just forward of the fuselage cross field, on sides and top surface. These "scales" are actually like a patern of square tiles tipped so that they sit on one corner and appear as darker diamond shapes separated by narrow light blue strips. The *forward* corner of each diamond is darker still and shades into the rest of the shape, giving the scale effect. Like * * * * * *** * ***** * * *** * * * * * * * =====> AFT * * * * * *** * **** * * *** * * * * * * * * * *** * * * ***** * * *** * * * * * * ......except that the shapes are actually square. I don't have all that much certainty the profile is correct but FWIW there are about 13 to 15 of these squares/diamonds along the length of the pattern My question is : Can anyone ID the photo this profile is based on, and where I can see it? It is NOT in the Profile nor the Datafile. I hope it isn't a major speculation (read - "imaginary") because a little experiment proves it'll be easily done and look spectacular.
