But as far as the paints go, despite all their ticking around with the number system and dropping colors, they're still the best all-around model paints I know of. Easy to hand paint or airbush, easy to find wide range, good shelf stability, good inter-lot quality, they mix well, and thin with your choice of thinners (barring alcohol or water -- there are better uses for those). Only problem is they may not match what they say the name is right out of the tin. For airbrush use only, I also like the Floquils for many of the same reasons, but they are the pits in handbrushing work. Testors always seem to dry out between projects, and I can't get the flexibility of techniques I use if I use acryllics. If I were a betting man--and I'm not--I would bet some money that no one makes a model of the Lusitania. Pity James Cameron didn't make a movie about its sinking, casting both you-know-who and you-know-who-too in it. Then you'd have a model or two out there. Message-ID: <35F1FEF7.A4C37650@ix.netcom.com> Airfix did a 1/600 R.M.S. Mauritania, no Lusitania per se, but it's not a difficult conversion (Mainly the post Titanic change of more lifeboats so that the boat deck now was completely lined with davits and some collapsibles were under each normal boat and two more on one of the deckhouses. There was also a difference in the bridge roof and the forward skylights for one of the first class promenade deck salons.) Entex did the Lusitania in about '78-'80 time frame in 1/350th as a companion to their Titanic. The molds changed hands, with the Academy Titanic being the same kit of that ship. I believe the "Lucy" molds are in the same hands. Whether they will be reissued is a tossup, but there might be a few available at swap meets and such. .Mark. Mauritania, Lusitania and the Aquatania.. I rode the Aquatania to Europe in WW II. I am sure there is a model of one of them but it was a long time ago. Airfix did only the Mauretania so far as I know - never a Lusitania. I'm not enough of a "ship person" to know what changes, if any, would be required to go from an RMS Mauretania to an RMS Lusitania. Entex did a 1/350 Lusitania quite some time back which was reissued by Anmark about 10 years ago. I don't know if this kit is currently in production any place but John Burns indicates that this kit (as well as Entex's Titanic) was available from the Titanic Historical Society as recently as five years ago. You might try them and see if they've any left.
