This has happened before to me and if you do = handle the model by the wings as I normally would do while rigging it, = chances are that it could happen. So here's what I did: I laid the model belly down (no u/c yet) on a square piece of expanded = polystyrene and secure it to it by means of elastic strips that ran over = both wings near the roots at a place where they would cause no = interference with any cable. the elastic strips 8mm wide and long enough = to do the job ( 1 inch is about enough) were slightly stretched to keep = the model in place and attached with straight pins to the foam. I was = left with a very nice, flat, big base to hold the kit securely while = rigging it and because of that I was able to put all the wires in the = wings in a snap, without having to touch the wings themselves. I'm sure some of you will find this old news but those who haven't = tried, please think about it next time you rig a model. It's perfect. BTW Paul where do we get to file the patent? ;-) HTH and that I made myself clear. Just thought that I'd introduce myself. You may recognize me from some of my activity on rec.models.scale for about 4 years now. I'm a an aircraft modeler primarily in 1/48 scale, although I have built several 1/72 kits in the last couple of years to let off steam. My focus is primarily military aircraft. Nothing more specific than that, all time periods, all nations. I've yet to find a combat plane that I don't love for one reason or another. Current projects include: 1/48 Tamiya M6A1 Seiran floatplane 1/48 Hasegawa F6F-5 Hellcat "Minsi III" 1/72 Hasegawa F-86D 1/48 Hasegawa F-15E Strike Eagle 1/48 Eduard Nieuport 17C1 "Vieux Charles" As far as WWI goes....other than the Nieuport, I'm planning on converting DML's 1/48 Triplane into F.1 103/17 and doing Werner Voss' aircraft. I've also pulled out the Blue Max 1/48 D.H. 2 and planned to do Lanoe Hawker's aircraft, but I can't work up the nerve to tackle it yet. The jigging alone will be a tremendous amount of work by itself. In any case I hope that this list provides a valuable technical resource.
