After all, you give him the handle, live with it for about 18 years and then you don't have to worry about it any more. The pood kid has to live with what we do to them all of their life. I thought Trishalana would be a great name for a gril. My first daughter still won't let me forget about the problems. It took her through the 5th grade to learn how to spell it without the P, and still can't explain where it came from, what it means or why she got it and she is only 28 years old. We use Crapintosh at my place of employment, and in consequence my job *is* much harder. Man! Is it nice to come home and relax with a *real* computer! And for every Wintel crash I suffer at home, the pile of scrap at work drops dead at least twice, only usually at a more critical time (given that I'm using it for production, not play). And when it does work, it does so slowly, very slowly, even though it is supposed to be more "advanced" than my own Pentium. Worse still, for all the pro-Mac, anti-MS blather, all the machines in the office are loaded up with MS software. I *hate* MS Word! At home, Bill Gates has my OS, but everything else is blissfully un-MS. Worst of all is the silly-assed, throat-slitting Mac bigotry of our developers. We have some very big prospects waving huge wads of cash in front of our noses. Naturally enough, being members of the civilized world, they want to know if our product will work on Wintel machines (it could, but only down the road, and after spending a lot more money on development). But all our developers can do is make insulting, derogatory remarks behind their backs. Fine. But if we don't get sales soon, and the investors tire of paying to have a bunch of grown men sit around playing computer games all day long, they'll be finding out just how slim the local market for Macintosh developers is. Yuck! Sorry about the off-topic rant, but since it was brought up.... And now back to plastic and multi-wings. --- Dane ps. I don't have the URL handy, but there is a page out there that completely demolishes the Apple claim, based on a single test, that the G3 is faster than the Pentium 400. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jul 1998 13:29:31 -0400 From: Geoff Smith To: "INTERNET:wwi@pease1.sr.unh.edu" Subject: Re: Airfix Mk.I et al Message-ID: <199807091329_MC2-52AC-5FB@compuserve.com> Matt : >>>I've no fax but if no-one else has offered already, I'll send for a >>catalogue & scan for you.
