Evidently he phones people up at all hours to have long rambling talks and then can't pay his phone bills! I can vouch for this as he talked to me for almost an hour from Texas to Scotland - I'd never met the man before and told him I had no interest in 1/72 which is all he does, but on and on he went - yawning loudly on the one or two occasions when I said anything! Must be a nutter - which is a great shame as his models are pretty good from what I've gleaned. Message-ID: <355D13FE.960@connectorsystems.co.nz> While on airline tales - this is a true story - not an urban legend.. Some years ago an Air New Zealand stewardess created a sensation on a flight from Tokyo, when she propositioned a couple of passengers. Eventually she ended up with one of them in the toilet, and was caught in what might be called a compromising position when the man's backside started rhythmically banging against the ermergency call button. Nothing further was said at the time, but another passenger complained to Air NZ management a little later - one assumes this was one of the passengers who wasn't propositioned and thought he should have been - and the affair hit the papers in a big way. It transpired that the stewardess had been on some combination of medication and had also drunk several champagne cocktails the night before, and this was blamed for her curious behaviour. (Considerable research has yet to discover the precise combination of drugs that produced this effect, though a lot of people have had a good deal of fun trying.) Immediately after there was a move in the marketing department to have the Air New Zealand slogan changed to- "Other airlines couldn't give a f**k, but Air New Zealand does." Parts 2 & 3 were 100% improvements on part 1. The second episode concentrated on a select number of famous individuals and included some marvelous footage of Balberi's (sp?) amazing SM flying boat Armada landing in Chicago, Lindbergh (and his dubious anti-Semitic views) and (of interest to this list) Udet. Some incredible film of Udet ground looping a postwar biplane and dragging wingtips along the grass and suchlike. A few other notables and some good input from Greg Alegi and other commentators; although the family and friends comments sometimes seemed to slide back towards the similar Richthofen family drivel in episode 1 - whilst I knew the latter for what it was, I don't know enough on the 20s and 30s stuff to comment further. Pretty damn good though all in all. The final episode (3) concerned itself with the air-speed record men, post WW2 and as such beyond the main interests of this group - but thrilling footage of Hunters and Swifts doing 700mph at 30 feet in front of huge crowds. Good to see all the surviving old faces still alive and well too - Neville Duke and suchlike. If you like 50's jets you must catch this one.
