Here it is Sunday afternoon and I just recieved a package from APC. Upon opening it I found my Hasagawa Fokker DVII. I was expecting to see box art with Goring's white ship. Instead I found box art depicting Bertold's red and blue aircraft. The box does say Hasagawa/Dragon. Inside is, as expected, the DML/Dragon kit complete with the original instructions for the red and white Raben squadron machine. The really suprising feature of the kit was the decal sheet. Markings are provided for Bertold complete with lozenge for lower wing surfaces and the white center section for the top wing. The rib tapes appear to be almost white. The reason that I say appear to be is because the "decals" are on the sheet up side down. There is a supplementary instruction sheet that shows decal placement and instructions for using the "new Hasagawa decals". For all intents and purposes, the markings are dry transfer. There's even a warning on the instructions that when the markings are placed they cannot be moved. Has anyone run into these "new" decals in any other Hasagawa kits? Later, Tim Crofoot ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Dec 1997 16:11:19 -0600 From: Bill Bacon To: wwi Subject: Re: No German flame-thrower references? Mr. Hustad? Message-ID: <349D9407.C54F05B7@netjava.net> Riordan, I have found a couple of photographs of the german flame-throwers. I haven't given upon finding more. I guess you know that the were at least two types. One took two men to operate and the other only one. The two man was a cylindrical tank with hose attached. The other is donut shaped with a spherical central piece. Naturally, there is a hose attached. One tank held the pressurized nitrogen propellant and the other the fuel. I will, hopefully find more detailed information. If it will not inconvenience you, I can get to you after the holidays. Happiest of holidays and a prosperous and successful new year to you and Sherry. Cheers, Bill B. I have to agree with Steve Hustad's editorial in the last IPMS/USA Journal questioning the wisdom of holding an event on a national holiday. Paul A. The review in Windsock did not do this kit justice. My open the box and see what you have review/impression is: ALL 1/72 guys, Matt, and Steve Hustad really, really need to have one. This is a cool kit! I have already removed the mold gates from the parts and dry-fit parts. Very nice! I think this kit is going to look great dwarfing some Albatrii and Fokkers, giving people an idea that WWI was not all small aircraft. More review later - but go buy one! They are from the observation or two-seater edition of Munson, not the fighter/scouts edition. The matchsticks appear on top surfaces only & not on fuselage sides. They run chordwise or perpendicular to the wings & are very limited in color variation.
