THe DH-1 is the only one that's ever really been seen and is 625.00. For that you get lots and lots of little itsy bitsy pieces of wood and metal. 4000 hours later you have a DH-1 :-) All their subassemblies are pieces only. A wheel is just the basic rim, hub and 64 spokes and ferrules. Takes a long time and a lot of skill to fabricate one wheel. About a years or so ago, I wrote to them ( snail mail ) asking numerous questions about their various kits and other details. Never got a reply. After about 6 weeks I mailed the letter again. Never got a reply. I called them 3 weeks later to verify they were still there. Someone was supposedly working up an answer and would contact me. Needless to say that never happened. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Sep 1997 19:27:06 +0800 From: David Solosy To: "'wwi@pease1.sr.unh.edu'" Subject: RE: Voss' Pfalz D.III (formerly Re: Just spotted) Message-ID: <01BCC20D.B31E44C0@user5.argo.net.au> ------ =_NextPart_000_01BCC20D.B32F0DA0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Last time Voss was mentioned (the triplane cowl colour question - = remember?) it started a very long and inconclusive thread. Since you are trying to, prove that Voss didn't fly a Pfalz = operationally it is impossible to find photographic evidence of him not doing so! Thus you will be unable to prove this negative point. On Fri, 12 Sep 1997, Bill Shatzer wrote: > Dennis Hylands, "Werner Voss". > And, 'tis pretty clear that all four of Voss's August '17 victories > were claimed flying the (an?) Albatros and all eleven September > victories were claimed in the Fokker, which doesn't leave much time > to be flying a Pfalz. =20 Since WW1 pilots often flew several sorties a day and could fly continuously day after day - the "fact" that he may have been flying Alb or Fok does not mean he could not have also flown Pfalz. As for Hylands, for every quote of one author's opinion I am sure we can all find another author stating the opposite. for example: "The mercurial Werner Voss was posted to command Jagstaffel 10 at the = end of July 1917 and used one of the first Pfalz D IIIs on which he recorded four victories before taking possession of a Fokker Triplane." Peter L Gray I've not read the Hylands book and I do not know the authors name - but have read several others by Gray (as I am sure you have) and respect his research before putting this statement into print. But I am quite happy that you may disagree and think it unlikely Voss flew a Pfalz - on the other hand you must respect that there is perfectly good reason why I should decide that the verdict is open. If, of course, somebody finds a hitherto unknown Voss diary which states something along the lines of "I never have and never will fly a Pfalz.." then I would be the first to agree with your OPINION. In the absence of this you will not be able to prove your point categorically. Why bother?
