I have the Datafile on the type, but am wondering if the GA in the new Datafile Special improves on those in the Datafile. I may be nuts, but I believe that the Merit, Inpact, and Lindberg are all the same kits. I have built the Inpact and have a Lindberg here now. When I looked at the Smer in a store, it looked pretty much the same except for the quality of the plastic. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 22:28:15 -0700 From: bshatzer@orednet.org (Bill Shatzer) To: wwi Subject: Re: DETAIL FOR ENGINES Bristol Bulldog Jupiter VII F Message-ID: <199707270528.AA11915@ednet1.orednet.org> Rob writes, most diligently: >I may be nuts, but I believe that the Merit, Inpact, and Lindberg are >all the same kits. Well, not exactly nuts - but mistaken, I think. The lineages of the two kits are: Merit Inpact | | Artiplast Pyro | | Smer Life-Like | Lindberg The two molds are similar but not identical and the Inpact/Pyro/Life-Like/ Lindberg molding is the better of the two, IMHO, anyway. The Merit, etc. moldings date from 1958 or '59 while the Inpact moldings didn't appear until 1967 so it's not particularly surprising that the Inpact molds are better.
