Any recommendations? >> Thanks for your attention, >> Torsten Greetings Some of us still use brushes, or in my case, brushes, spray paint and an occasional foray into the airbrush. It would take a true masochist to try and air brush the 5 color camo most often used on the SPAD. I'm in the middle of doing a 1/48 Camel. I'm using Polly-Scale Olive drab for the PC-10. It looks right and dries in a way that makes it hard to tell a brush was used. For the clear doped linen underneath, I've been spray painting w/Model-Masters "Modern Desert Sand." Of course, you should wait until you get the book copy from me before sending anything. I'll start photocopying tommorrow. This may be asking a lot, but my collection is in desperate need of a pusher type in 1/72 - but not the Revell DH2 or the Veterans Caudron G.II, both of which I have. Let me know what you might have in that line. If that's pushing things (sorry about the bad pun!) a bit, I'd consider 1/72 early German Monoplanes (Pfalz or Fokker types). I don't want you to part with anything you may treasure, naturally. Alternatively, a set of the new Superscale decals for Albatros fighters would be more than acceptable (they're hard to get over here). Let me know. I'm also having some problems fixing >> the upper wing to the lower wing. Is there any trick to do that >> without crying out for a third and forth hand? :) Finally a I have found the best way to attach an upper wing is to first construct a jig to hold the top wing firmly in place with relation to the lower wing and fuselage. Then you pop the struts in place, apply glue, let it cure and then remove the jig. I make the jigs from plans. I measure the distance between wings and trace the airfoil shapes of the top of the bottom wing and the bottom of the top wing on to a sheet of stiff styrene (confused yet?). I cut these out and use drafting tape and rubber bands to secure the assembly. This is the best way I have found. Others have different methods. --Jesse ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 May 1997 08:49:45 -0500 From: Bill Bacon To: wwi Subject: Re: Squadron Scalefest Attendees Message-ID: <33844EF9.15AD@netjava.net> Paul, Late night causes errors. While it's certainly not one of the more attractive aircraft of the 1914-1918 period (understatement) I'm one of these people that enjoy reading about some of the more obscure types flown, hence I'm glad it was covered.
