Send a message to wwi-request@pease1.sr.unh.edu, and in the body of the message, include: unsubscribe wwi Think you can handle that? I'm sorry if this seams a bit terse, but I - amongst most of the other members of this list - do not think this list is "dumb". If you would have asked politely - that is, without putting your personal two-cents worth in - on how to unsubscribe, then you would have gotten a message with just that information. I'm sorry to the rest of this list for this message. Please bear with me, as I deal with this personal demon. ;-) Matt mbittner@juno.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Feb 1997 12:50:56 -0600 From: "Bill Bacon" To: Subject: Re: Nothing received since 31/1 Message-ID: <18593375116036@netjava.com> Matt, No need to apologize for my sake. Among other things, they do not have a rigging diagram except for the cover/box picture and, for me, the rigging is a bit complicated. Does anyone have (or know where I could find) a simple rigging diagram for either or both. I'd really hate to spend $20 on a datafile for each when the kits cost only $6 apiece. Went out then with Hoskier but oil clutch got frozen soon after I left and consequently I burned two cylinders and had to come directly back. Hoskier had the same trouble also. That just puts me back as I'll have to wait several days now for a new motor to be installed and a new motor will have to be sent for. Went rabbit hunting with Lt de Laage and some other officers and Blair Thaw, Bill Thaw's younger brother who is staying here with him for awhile. We got no game but were chased by outraged gendarmes and had to run some to keep from being caught. Its strictly against the law to hunt rabbits here now. Got a long letter from Rivers. He is thinking of coming over here this winter to join the aviation service on account of the experience being such a benefit in the States later on. Wrote and advised him to think it over very thoroughly before making a step this way as he has excellent chances of getting a commission as Ensign in the 8th Division of the N.Y. State Naval Militia and he shouldn't throw that up without a good try. from the War Diary of E.C.C. Genet ********************************************** Friday, Feb. 2, 1917 Started out for lines with Hoskier at 10:20 a.m. but got over Mondider at 1200 meters and had motor trouble. Had to turn back and just made the aviation field before the motor stopped altogether. Oil was frozen and it caused two cylinders to burn out. Machine out of commission until new motor is put in.
