I have been toying with building my first Vac-Form. I even have one or two unbuilt models but I didn't really want to wreck a model I had paid real money for. However over the last weekend I picked up a Warbirds Sopwith Snipe in 1/72 scale for free. Therefore if it gets wrecked or doesn't get finished, it really won't matter. So has anyone got any good advice before I start building. I plan to add an Aeroclub Clerget and some cockpit detail's but other than that I think just getting it finished should be an adventure. I thought of building the model as McCuddens famous aircraft, but I am pretty sure that I would need to change the shape of the rudder and Ailerons as the model is a late version. Ray. I picked up most of the old Airfix as well as some limited run WW I stuff, I can already smell the crisp whiffs of plastic as I saw them up for multiple conversions. It wasn't the easiest model that I ever assembled, but I think for the return on the amount of effort was good. However, then I punch up Allan's web page and look at Steve H's HB W.12, and I have to drool. Still more room for improvement on my part :) I believe that the there is a Czechmaster HB W.29 as well (I have a couple of the Meikraft injection kits). It would seem to me, that barring any real deformities in the kits, this would be the best WWI floatplane to model (although the purists among us might not agree -- jeeze, just because it only has one wing, and little or no rigging ;~) I'd also reccommend the HB W.20 (which is technically a flying boat). I have this one (but haven't built it yet), it looks very nice and matches up well to the drawings in the old Harleyford book.
