HALLOOO!! Sorry Tim. I figured I had to yell for all those folks far from the hinterlands. I live in Crystal, Minnesota - just on the west edge of Minneapolis. I won't give any geographic references, (um 25 hours and 32 minutes west of the National Air and Space museum). I do however live just 15 minutes from where Steve H. used to live. That is before he got all hoity-toity and moved to Kansas City, Kansas! BTW Tim, welcome to the list! It's nice to know that we've got one more Minnesotan. Now, we've just got to recruit a few more! For example, the Fort Crook >chapter of the IPMS (the one I'm in) meets at the SAC (Strategic Air >Command) Museum. Yes, the Twin City Aero Historians meets in the Minnesota Air National Guard Museum. One of the few small, rarely heard-of museums that managed to snag an SR-71 (YF-12, actually). The people who run the museum are great and treat the club fabulously. They have a lot of airplanes with two wings - left and right! No top and bottom arrangements, unfortunately. Our club is also blessed with a member who owns his own air museum Mike Langer of the American Wings Air Museum. He owns several OV-1 Mohawks, including the one in which he flew 1000+ hours of comnbat in Vietnam. They also own an Antonov AN-2 Colt (I knew there was a biplane in there somewhere!) and, I think, an A-37 or TA-37 DragonFly. Happy Modeling! Still have lots of cousins and other relatives in southern Norway. Message-ID: <096.05401873.NPWE28A@prodigy.com> Doug, When were you alongside Connie? I made a Westpac cruise on her (88-89) with VAQ-139. Good ship. After that cruise, our air wing transferred to the Independence and so many unflattering comparisons were made with the Indy that we were forbidden to mention Connie to the Indy's crew. To placate the list content monitors, here's a bit of WWI stuff. I'm in the research phase of a scratchbuilt 1/700 HMS Furious. I'd like to build her in her initial configuration with the single 18" turret. I am from the Dallas area. I am active in the NCT IPMS club which has hosted the ScaleFest for the past 14 years. If any of you can make it to Big "D" on May 4 & 5, drop in for the show. It will also be the Region VI convention. There are appx 115 vender tables sold. There will be reps from Monogram/Revell, Tamiya, AeroMaster, Classic Airframes, DML, Testors, Minicraft and Kalmbach will be on hand to tell us abouot all the new goodies that are comming up. The contest had about 550 models entered last year, and indications this year are that ther will be more. The Cavanaugh Air Museum is very close, as well as Six Flags. You will also be within driving diastance of Squadron Mail Orders warehouse. They are going to have an open house again this year during the show. I build mostly 1/72 scale aircraft that were flown by the U.S. from the Wright Flyer to the B-2. I have two secondary collections that are in constant update also. One is WWI aircraft and the other is ACES aircraft. when I get in a slump, I work on ship models. At the moment, I am in one of those slumps and have a BWN CV6 on the work bench. They have released a Fokker DI and the Austrian version, the BIII. Both kits include etched parts and they are now doing the smaller parts, including engines in white metal. From what Barry said, the wings are the best that they've ever done. The price is $19.95 each. Rosemont also has the three new Mini Data Files in stock.
