I was born and raised there. Great place to visit, but wouldn't live there....too busy/fast/rushed etc. You left off your list Italian beef sandwiches soaked in juice, stuffed pizza(the real kind, not the east-coast imitation) and Chicago-stule hot dogs. But about the Cubs...what are you, a glutton for misery. Me, I'm a White Sox fan.(only slightly less of a glutton) Mike Muth ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 1996 19:37:48 -0800 From: larmin@ix.netcom.com To: wwi Subject: Kit List sent Message-ID: <19964420365856334@ix.netcom.com> Hi, all. Nelson) To: wwi Subject: Pegasus Abatros D.III (OEF) Message-ID: Thursday April 4, 1996 Yeah, that's right, here I go again. I'd forgotten about ordering it, but here it is: the new Pegasus 1/72 Albatros D.III (OEF) NOTE: I have not yet built this yet, so this is simply a commentary on accuracy and contents & features. . . ****************** Pegasus 1/72 Injected Albatros D.III (OEF) 53/153/253 series: Can you say . . . "options?" Yet another fine 1/72 WW1 kit, and no.2 in their Albatros Fighter series! The kit's contents include 3 "sprues" of injected parts, decals, metal bits, and instructions. The plastic parts include the fuselage, upper and lower wings (both are single pieces), tail parts, airscrew, wheels, cowling parts (all styles), landing gear spreader, tailskid, instrument panel, and fuselage floor; metal parts include the engine, interplane and other assorted struts, seat, control stick (x 2?), exhaust stubs, and the airscrew; decals are for 1 aircraft (253 64 - White 6 - requires Blue Rider Sworl Fabric); there is also supposed to be a piece of rod (but mine has gone AWOL.) Details are very finely done with lightly raised rib tapes. The fuselage is molded in left and right halves with typically fine detail: lightly scribed panels, access panels and other details. Interior detail is limited to the floor (with integral rudder pedals and engine mount, seat, stick, and instrument panel. There is no interior side detail at all. Parts are included for enclosed (winter) engine, exposed engine, blunt nose (late) and flat nose (early models with the spinner removed) both "normal" and scalloped (wire trailing edge) elevators are included. Strangely there is no spinner in the kit for modelling some of the early aircraft before they had the spinner removed (this is not hard to fix.) Also, no guns are included for those aircraft with exposed armament. The ailerons have washout as per Pegasus other recent releases. The "missing" rod is for radiator pipes and gun blast tubes. There is slightly more "chunky" flash on some parts than in some of the other recent kits from Pegasus. The instructions are step by step text with exploded diagrams of all the parts and nose options, there is also complete color guide for the marking enclosed. The kit scales out virtually spot on with 3-views in the Datafile with one exception: the after fuselage seems to be a little thin vertically below the leading edge of the fin (2mm). HITS: fine detail, thin trailing edges, "forgotten" type, options. MISS: lack of cockpit interior side detail, slightly funny taper to after fuselage. Required for ultimate satisfaction: More than 1 kit, Blue Rider Sworls, Other Americal Gryphon marking options. 1/72 Albatros D.III (OEF): kit # 1027 (UK pounds) 10.99 Note that they have added more 1/72 decal sheets. ****************** _____________________________________________________________________ Mark (An Employee at Kites & Other Delights in West Edmonton Mall) ------------------------ mnelson@compusmart.ab.ca ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Apr 1996 09:32:06 -0500 (EST) From: aew (Allan Wright) To: wwi Subject: Re: leftover kits for sale Message-ID: <199604051432.JAA17964@pease1.sr.unh.edu> Rick, I'm interested in the Revell Nieuport 17 & 28, Merlin DH5 and Pegasus Dolphin and SS D-III -Al > > Ok here is what I've got left.
