Bruce. It features a black & white illustration of a Caudron R.11 with unusual marings. The fuselage forward of the wings is checkered as is the tailfin. The fuselage unit insignia looks like a five pointed leaf inside a shield. Can anyone provide any info on this aircraft: colors, camoflage, unit? Among more modern types (Mainly 1/288 Antonov designs) currently available, there are sketches of forthcoming releases in 1/72 (The Mad Norsemen Scale): Sopwith 7F1 Snipe Hansa Brandenburg D1 Pfalz DXII Siemens Schuckert DIV Hansa Brandenburg W.29 Sopwith 11/2 Strutter The company has previously done various display models for Antonov and I don`t have any information regarding prices etc for them except that they were very expensive. Their first ordinary release is to be an IL2, don`t know when the rest will follow. In one corner of the flyer there is an Email adress: agl@linkin.kiev.ua Eduard is to release their 1/48 Pfalz D III very soon. One of them has got the following: A nice Polish article on the "Austin-Putilow-Garford" (whatever the hell that is!), with pretty good 1/25 scale drawings. One page of German drawings of the Renault FT-17, in 1/25 scale. A German article on the A7V, with two drawings. And... a nice article in English on the Rolls-Royce "Silver Ghost" armored car. There are no scale line drawings in it, but there are some good pictures and a fine cut-away view. Want me to send any of these? It has always been interesting for me to go to the places I used to read so much about, and there are numerous museums, etc. But I digress. I have been going out with an English girl for about three months now and she absolutely stunned me yesterday. At the moment there is considerable debate as to whether the traditional two minute silence should be moved back to it's original 11am, November 11 time. Glad to say it appears most people have ignored any official guide and observed the silence both today and yesterday (the nearest Sunday). My girlfriend however asked if all this debate seemed meaningless to me as a foreigner (foreigner? I've got a British passport!). Ahem. My girlfriend is well educated. in the following discussion she admitted to having studied Gallipoli at school ( possibly due to Mel Gibson being in a film about it). The question arose: are all British blithely unaware of the contributions of the colonies/commonwealth, particularly the antipodes who 'statistically' suffered as much if not more than the home nations! Well, I don't know. But I'm having a bit of a soap box day. You guys get off lightly, as most of you probably know more about it than I do! But at 11 AM spare a thought for those who fought, whatever nationality, colour, gender they were, and those who lost their loved ones, and hope that one day we'll learn to avoid such stupidity. If I can secure a report from the Sergeant of my section who was in the attack at Champagne the Lieut will be able and glad to get a citation for me from the Colonel of the Legion. Ted Mathews was in the second wave of boats to land, saw soldiers from the boat drowned as they disembarked at the steeply shelving beach, was slightly wounded by shrapnel within moments of landing, but stayed until the day of the final withdrawal. Asked on national TV what he put his long life down to he said "Not dying" A soldierly thing to say if ever I heard one. Regards, Shane Weier To you from failing hands we throw The torch: be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
