He put on an excellent presentation! He had a great slide show and has a good presentation style with a little humour thrown in. On Friday, Bob Horton, Greg and I went to the First Division Museum (Cantigny) in Wheaton, IL and went through their photo library doing research for my Renault book. Found some interesting photos of a crashed D VII from Jasta 50. It was interesting looking through these collections of Signal Corps photos and snapshots taken by soldiers during the Great War. Really no diferent than the types of photos we took during the Gulf. Bob had a nearly completed 1/48 conversion of the Fokker D VI. According to him, its a litle DR I, a little D VII, the odd piece here and there, and voila, un belle D VI. Of course, this is the same guy whose shelves are covered by beautiful scratch built and converted 1/48 WW I aircraft, so his idea of easy is open to question. :) Glen ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Aug 1996 07:00:40 -0500 From: meba@cso.com To: wwi Subject: Re: Spad XIII C1 Message-ID: <199608120658.GAA14048@cso.com> On 11 Aug 96 at 9:22, Charles Hart typed diligantly: > I don't recall when this kit was released exactly, though I think that > it has been around for the better part of two years now. I'm going to say early to mid '94, because it was at the Nats that I first saw one. It's hard to guess exactly what Meikraft will do from time to time. Who would have thought a SPAD 13, especially since the Lloyd Tripe hadn't been released? Meikraft is so odd... If so, then that's Raben's machine, and the *best* replacement nose is from Atlee - although I've heard that Atlee's earlier stuff is oop. Check with Rosemont to be sure. Technically, I would also use PD Decals' take on Raben. They supply you with four birds, two for each side, just to be sure there are no "see through" problems. I've come to a spot where I need some opinions/doc from the list. The drawings with the kit show the elevator control cables leaving the fuselage high up on the side, so that the upper cable clears the horizontal stab and connects to the control horn. However, an old AW&ST calendar I have, depicting Kiffin Rockwell's first victory, shows the cables leaving the fuselage low on the side, so the upper cable must run through a hole in the horizontal stab. Anyone able to shed any light on the discrepancy? I just paged through C&C Vol 2 No 1, and all Nie.11/16's do have the cable "low", and the cable running through the stab. I have no idea why the discrepancy, unless it's lack of research. Good luck! This sale is dictated by a medical crisis in his family and his need to meet some staggering bills. Steve is not on line, hence the reason for my posting these lists. He prefers that all orders for kits be handled by snail mail. If anyone has questions about availability of a particular kit you may e-mail me. For now though please don't attempt to reserve kits via e-mail, that will just make things more complicated for Steve. I will post a series of 4 lists, two with 1/72 scale kits (rather lengthy), a 1/48 scale list and a 1/27 scale and greater list. Steve's address and terms of sale will be posted as a header to each list.
