They apparently want out before they are handed over to the PRC. Hate see them become "Mao Models". ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 May 1996 20:20:51 -0400 From: DavidL1217@aol.com To: wwi Subject: Re: NEW MAILING LIST MEMBER Message-ID: <960511202050_533261460@emout15.mail.aol.com> Precision Enterprises P.O. Remember, real pilots >aren't afraid of a little wind in their hair. (so spoken by the man who has >never flown anything faster than than 180 KIAS) Sounds good! In fact, I have indeed decided to put mine on floats. Built up a pair from Eduard's 1/72 Sopwith Tabloid today, added a dorsal fin, and filled in the gear wells. Problem: this thing is starting to get away from that distinct shape which makes it so "109-ish", it was already rather ungainly with the early style chin radiator. But hey, I've gone this far, might as well cut the cockpit open- maybe an observer place as well? Thinking of calling it "Hansa Brandenschmitt W.109. Thoughts? Part II: This wacky project has got me going- Since there are so many Bf109 fanatics in my IPMS chapter who cringe at the thought of any other aircraft taking the limelight, I have a 109G that is destined for US Vietnam style camouflage, complete with stars and bars and orders to stay out of Hanoi! I'll display these two together with the title "Two good uses for a 109 kit" Have I truly lost my mind? I know, how about if we start a rumour that someone s doing a new 1/48 SE5a, then maybe we'll get some aftermarket sheets. (But then again, maybe we'd better not, as if the rumour were *too* successful it might deter some warm-hearted kit manufacturer who *really* had such plans.) Seriously, as far as I can see, in 1/48 the WWI RFC modeller is at quite a disadvantage for aftermarket decals considering the amount of material available for German and French. Or is this just me taking an over-subjective view? Wouldn't it be nice if Blue Rider were to bring out that wonderful "Colourful Pup" sheet it 1/48 to go with the Eduard kit? Some of us, as Stephen Tontoni has pointed out, find the Propagteam sheets that come with their kits too fragile to use.
