Chip, Hi,

I wonder if you might have considered *painting* the wood-grain areas. I've
been doing so for a while and have gotten excellent results (indeed, an EX-
girlfriend of mine actually scratched one of my D.IIIs to see if the kit
was really wood, or not!).
I could give you a more detailed explanation, but essentially you paint a
'base' wood color, followed by one or more 'grain' colors. All grain
lines should be roughly completed at this time. Then, you apply another,
*darker*, 'grain'-color wash over the entire area. The effect, with
practice, is quite good.
