Greetings,

The discussion on German blue dopes brought me to look a few other
references up. The following all come from Methuen color references from
surviving original fabrics. All are referenced in various Datafiles from
Albatros Publications in England.

From the most recent pub, GOTHA! is a reference to the light blue
used on early Gotha G-IV and G-V bombers (I've actually seen this piece)
a very light blue: 22A3

Several other Datafiles on the Roland D-II, Rumpler C-IV and
Albatros fighters list three values for light blue dope:
24B4, 25B5 (approximately FS15526) and 23D3

These are in addition to my earlier reference for an Albatros fabric swatch:
24D3

These values are taken from the "Methuen Handbook of Color", published by
Methuen
Michelin House
81 Fulham Road
London SW3 6RB
ENGLAND

for any reference the first number refers to a page with about 48
color squares on it. the letter is the column and the last number is the
row on the page. This handbook was last printed (I think) in 1989 (when
I got my copy) but my resurface again. Used book dealers might be
another source, although I had looked there for a couple of years without
success before finally getting a new copy. If anyone has success in
finding one, let me know.
