A good reference for the Fokker D-V is in Windsock vol.4 #4, an
article by Peter Grosz and a very nice color painting on the cover. The
article states that while well liked and manuverable and light on the
controls, the fokker D-V was somewhat underpowered with its rotary engine.
The D-V was also disadvantaged in appearing on the heels of the D-I to
D-IV series of biplanes which were rightfully criticized for their poor
construction and structural weakness. The lightness of the D-V in
appearance may have fostered these concerns about suitability for combat.
