Two spreader bars one on each side of the axle.

>It also appears that the mounts for the shock cord are mounted
slightly up the gear leg.

Try using 3/32" wire with 1/8 wooden dowel glued to it with airfoil shaped
tubing slid over.
To connect front and back gear leg bend like below and use square brass tubing
to join the wire then solder the speader wire to the brass tubing.

The Sopwith gear is hinged in the middle so each axle should form a T and be
secured to the spreader bars so that the can float on the bungee cord.

I relize this is totally inadequate is there any way to send a drawing I have a
totally unconvetional method for making gear but it would probably require a
snail mail transmission and I don't know how much of a hurry your in.
