For those of you interested there are several retailers who may be able to
give you a discount on some of these books. New World Books, Suffern, New
York, will give you quotes and can "usually" give you a 10% to 30% discount.
They can be reached at newldbooks@aol.com in fact I bought the "Air Aces of
the Austro-Hungarian Empire, 1914-1918" from them, the publisher must have
changed because my book is from Champlin Fighter Plane Press somewhere in AZ.
Another source is the U.S. Naval Institute in Annapolis, MD, the only drawback
is you must be a member, the cost about $30.00 a year. They however publish
the Putnam Aeronautical series on this side of the Atlantic. Also they give
up to 20% discount, for those of you interested USNI is a private org. which
promotes to quote, "The advancement of professional, literary, and scientific
knowledge in the naval and maritime services, and the advancement of seapower"
also they are well versed in Naval Aviation and have a wonderful book service.
They can be reached at 800-233-USNI. The Smithsonian in Wash. DC also gives
book discounts for members, that's where I bought "Austro-Hungarian Army
Aircraft of WWl" and yes it retails for around $80.00. Does anyone know if
the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio, Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL or the EAA in
Oshkosh, WI offer discounts as well! We should all share our book sources
with members of the group...

PS: Just received "Soviet Aircraft and Aviation 1917-1941" by Lennart
Andersson from Putnam/USNI it gets my recommendation, early days of the Red
Air Force, including Civil War of 1917-1920 are covered..
