>I am not sure I will be able to make it but I am hoping to. I am
currently starting on an Albatros DII from Steven Stratt's plans. Like
so many others, this will have an Astro geared 40. FAI or straight
cobalt not yet decided. Any opinions? As this will be my 4th or 5th
electric model depending on how you count, would love any hints you might
offer.

Thanks

Hi Thayer

I'm flattered that you would consider making that long trek to the Great White
North :-).

As far as your project goes I would recomend the Straight Astro cobalt as the
FAI tries to draw to much power. I currently fly a semi scale Auster with a
AFC 40 geared that weighs 9 lbs and has 900 sq. inches. The Auster is quite
lively Loops and 45 degree upward rolls are possible. The 40 drives a 14 x 6
top flite power point prop at 7500 rpm.

Do you belong to the WWI mailing list, Allan Wright the list co-ordinator is
seriously contemplating the exact project you are starting and would probably
like hereing from you.

I'm forwarding a copy of this to Allan
