I also like veneer for prop production. My two favorite woods are
maple and cherry. They have very dense structure (tiny grain). I
assemble them with gap-filling CA which permeates the wood and makes
them extremely strong. Rough shaping is done with the Dremel sanding
drum and fine work with sanding sticks. My attempts to dye maple for
the contrasting layers have been a failure. You can make four blade
props for your Siemens-Schukerts by butt-jointing every other layer.
