Seems to me the difficulty is not so much figuring out how to build up
the rib (strip, sprue, or whatever), as shaping the built-up rib to match
all the other pre-molded ribs, after you've filled the offending sink
hole or whatever. And I know of no other way to do this than: sand,
prime, mutter expressions of dissatisfaction, strip primer, re-sand,
re-prime .... I am now up to the third iteration of this on my current
project. For what it's worth, I use the sprue method, augmented with a
little filler.
