because it takes too much effort to make
it look right (I assume; I haven't gotten to that point yet)

Natural metal seems to work just fine with the 'bare metal' product line. A
coworker has a P-51 that is all bright aluminium and it looks fantastic, with
significant temporal allowances for the subjects era. :-)

Extremely thin with a pva you just burnish it around the details like rivets and
panel lines and it looks great. Compound curves can also be done with a little
effort.
