In the discussion of scale color it has been said that adding white
to a color would change it too much, ie. red to pink. In "The
Official Monogram painting Guide to luftwaffe Aircraft" they have a
discussion on scale color and discuss this very matter. They state
that as most camouflage colors are already of a low _chroma_, that is
already on the gray end of the scale, white can be added without
changing the hue of the color but only its intensity which is what we
are trying to do. For brighter colors it would not work but that is
something airliner and car modellers have to work out.
