Rib representation

To dispell any mis-understanding about my method of wing rib
representation on my 1/72 scale models;

I do not just "draw them on".

What I do is sand them down (as they're usually too pronounced), shape
them up with sandpaper if they need more definition, then re-scribe
them (double lines) with the 'ol #11 X-Acto blade. I want some raised
"dimension" to remain naturally.

Then for linen, or painted wings I will "Accentuate" the ribs with
colored pencil, two VERY thin and light lines for each rib. Sometimes
I will spray two colors of the same shade on adjoining rib spaces to
break up the one color scheme monotony if not camo'd, keeping it
subtle.

For lozenge fabric covered wings I will allow the rib tapes to provide
the additional accentuation. I never just just draw them on.

Since there has been lozenge decal discussion lately, I'll put my two
cents worth in:
I prefer "Americal/Gryphon", or "Almark" decals. Eduard, Superscale,
and the new Aeromaster just don't strike me as looking right - too
bright for scale at the very least IMHO. Spurious colors also on
Superscale stuff (especially) me thinks! The new Pegasus ones I've not
seen "up close and personal" yet, so I reserve judgement there.
