Hansa-Brandenburg D.I

The 1/48 Hansa-Brandenburg D.I was built oob from the Eduard 1/48 kit. The struts were a mess, look close and you will see why. All pe parts for hatches etc. were covered with tin solder to represent bare metal. The cowling and the gun container were covered with Bare Metal Foil for the same effect. The foil was toned down on the sheet with steel wool. The wood effect on the fuselage was achieved with several oil paints which were painted over a acrylic base. The oil paint was put on undiluted and removed with a stiff brush. The grain effect is very subtle and not quite visible on these pictures. All weathering was also done with oils. All decals are from Eduard. The machine should represent 28.33, flown by Brumowski, Fiala and Arigi at Flik 41/J. Various newer sources shows all outer triangles in black, the red triangle seems to be a misinterpretation.
