Kit: Emhar (1:72)
It was a dark and a stormy night, and I had modeller's block. So I reached me down the Emhar 1/72nd kit of the Mark IV Male tank. I hour to build (mostly spent fiddling with the rails on the top), one hour to paint and weather. First ground pounder in 30 years. It might not be pretty, but it sure removed the block.
I know not a lot about these beasts, except that the one I saw at the Army Museum in Belgium was quite impressive. This one was built, painted and weathered far too quickly, but went together very easily amd was a lot of fun to do. I ignored Emhar's suggestion of Gunship Grey and painted the thing green, then flung on some oil pastel burnt umber and yellow ochre in lieu of real mud, mashed up a bit with Tamiya smoke and a cotton bud. Finished off with the new-ish Revell acrylic matt varnish.
