1:12 Scale Nienport 11

Recently my wife has joined me in my love for WW I aircraft and we are currently building a 1:12 scale Nieuport II. We plan to build an actual flying Nieuport II in about a year but decided that we would start off with a detailed wooden model to get the feel for the actual assembly of the real aircraft. I hope to "one day" actually build a flying Albatross D5a but I am having great difficulty finding plans or even wooden model kits for that craft.

Nonetheless, I would like to submit our Nieuport II model to your website. We have photographed it from wooden plates to the actual frame and we plan to dope, cover, paint and detail the plane over the next month and a half. I love model building as well as flying real airplanes so I hope the guys will accept a couple of geeks like my wife and I into the website. I will send completed aircraft photos if I hear back from you.

Update:The vac work has been very slow going because I have never done this before and there are no "male / female" connectors to make it easy. I also noticed that the opposite pieces are not even the same size! To get the parts to join correctly I have glued one small area together (about an 1/8th of an inch) at a time. This has been a very slow process but it's the only way I could make the pieces meet together. The engine is almost finished and as the photo will show, some cylinders have been sanded smooth and others have not. I will be detailing the front of the airplane and the cockpit over the next few days.
