Kit: Eduard (1:48)
A couple of Eduard Albatros DIIIs. First tackling the kit's three weak points, rescribing the fuselage panels to give that "planking" effect at the front of the fuselage, and sourcing a larger engine (from Roden's DVII), and bigger wheels. It seems that Eduard's depiction of the Jasta 11 machine is a little off the mark, the wavy line should in fact go right through to the nose. I'm not so sure it should even be red. Of course I found this out after I'd finished it! My stab at the scratched out "O" on the side of Ltn. Strobel's Jasta 5 machine didn't really come off so I done it "overpainted" in blue. Adding to the provisional nature of the thing I plumped for a yellow (RAF Middle Stone) instead of the normal pale brunswick green + white as some combat reports mention green/red/yellow wings. The ply fuselage was painted with acrylics, sealed with Johnsons Klear/ Tamiya Clear Yellow.
