Erik Pilawskii's Other Models

RAF Re-8 - 1/72nd Airfix kit, mostly OotB. I cut out the various control surfaces and repositioned them as shown. A crew was added. Rigging material on all of these models is a very fine "metallic" thread produced by Sulky of Germany.

Nieuport 17 - Considerably re-built ESCI Nieuport N.17, Ctpn. Varre of Esqdrll.N.25, 1917. The wing was cut in half and extended with sheet plastic, while also adding sweep-back. Lower wings received similar treatment. The Lewis and LeRhone rotary are both Rosemont parts, but the gun mounting is entirely scratch-built, as is the rudder and tail skid unit (out of card stock). For the aluminum dope finish I used a mixture of PollyS Gloss Aluminum with a touch of Med. Grey and and artist's color called "Gloss Pearl". The cowling and metal panels are PollyS Flat Aluminum.
