Many years ago I had all of my 1/72 WWI aircraft models on the ceiling of a spare bedroom that I was using as a bandroom. During one rehearsal the DH9 was shot down by an errant drumstick and when it came time to move, all of them were dumped into a box where they remained for the next 10 years.
A few months back, a friend's daughter saw all the models and when I told her that they used to be on the ceiling in my old house, she said we should put them on the ceiling of the 'golf ball room' (aka downstairs rumpus room/bandroom etc). So we got to work repairing the damaged models and to my surprise we eventually got all of them up (although many are still lacking struts and such). Since then I have added a few new ones: Eduard Junkers J.I, Merlin Fokker D.II, Toko Snipe and AModel SPAD A2.
Also since then I have knocked two of them down. . the Nieuport 11 fell victim to lifting a bass guitar too high, while the Jenny was hit removing a guitar case from its shelf. I decided to forgo my annual musician's party and the possible carnage that would have invited.
It turns out that I miscounted .. there are only 49 up. ... so what will be number fifty .. the Roden Gotha is almost done, as are a 1/2 dozen others, so the race is on.
