1/72nd scale Toko late model D.III kit (conversion from).
-
This conversion was carried out using the Hawkeye Designs resin conversion set
No. 214 for back dating to the early version machines - which I designed the
scratchbuilt masters for.
-
The upper wing, lower wing, horizontal tailplane, elevator, vertical
stabilizer, rudder, cowling and unvented spinner are from the Hawkeye
conversion set.
-
The Hawkeye Designs correction set also yields the new 160hp Siemens-Halske
Sh.III 11 cylinder rotary engine. This was also made from scratchbuilt masters
that I provided.
-
The PART photo etch detail set No. S72-077 was used for the cockpit fold up
sidewall and floorboard structure, control column, instrument bezels,
interplane strut attachment plates, "Spandau" MG vented jackets, seat,
under-cowling louvers and engine rods (these last were cut apart to fit).
-
Decals for the German 5 color pre-printed fabric are from the Americal/Gryphon
range (their sheets 5 & 6). National markings and the personal fuselage 'leaf'
markings are also A/G products, from their sheets No. 29 & 138 respectively.
-
All paints are Humbrol enamels, with some minor exceptions. Rigging is .005"
stainless steel wire - dullcoted.
-
Weathering is by airbrush, drybrushing and pastels.
