Albatros D-Va - Eduard Profipack 1/72

This kit was made almost OOB, with the exception of 5 color lozenges and ribs tape (Americal Gryphon), the pipes from radiator to engine and the wooden propeller. The kit is rigged with monofilament darkened with a permanent marker. Very good kit.

Albatros C.III Dragodile

Kit: Pegasus (1:72)

Eric writes, " Recently, I found the Dragodile drawing on Joey Valenciano page, and I Built an Albatros C III with it. I would like to thanks Joey, but his email adress didn't work. Could you send this mail to him please ? I made my first decals with a laser printer."

The best way I could find to pass on the word was to post his message and photos here.

Albatros DVa

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

This is the Eduard 1/72 kit. This kit was made almost OOB, with the exception of the pipes from radiator to engine and the wooden propeller. The camo paints are from MisterKit. The kit is rigged with monofilament darkened with a permanent marker. Very good kit but I prefer the Profipack one.

Fokker Dr1

Kit: Hawkeye Design (1:72)

This is the Hawkeye Design Fokker Dr1, 1/72 and in resin. The fuselage is molded in one part. A fret of photoetched elements is provided. The kit comes without decal.

The building process is pretty straightforward. The notice is well done. One minus, the 2 interplane struts : they are very basic and fragile. I didn't use the cabane struts provided in PE but did my own.

The colour and marking are those of Ltn. Arthur Rahn, Jasta 19, Fokker Dr1 433/17. The decals come from the Superscale N°72-665. For the camo, I used MisterKit paints. For the first time, I tested the Klir product (our local Future) on the propeller. It is very useful and gives a nice shine.

Thank you to Matt Bitner who sold this kit to me.

Fokker Dr.1

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

Eduard 1/72 kit, Profipack. I built it OOB with the addition of a wooden propeller. The streaky camo is made with a coat of Humbrol H103 airbrushed and then Misterkit fokker green handbrushed.

Friedrichshafen G.IIIa

Kit: Choroszy Modelbud (1:72)

This is the Friedrichsafen G IIIa from Choroszy Modelbud 1/72.

This is a very nice kit build almost OOB with wooden propellers from M. Digmayer, machine-guns from Part and lozenges from Americal Gryphon (2 sheet and half !!! ). The rib tapes are also from A/G. Rigging with invisible nylon thread teinted with a permanent marker. I used Tamiya paints for the fuselage and struts.

Hansa-Brandenburg W20

Kit: CzechMaster (1:72)

This is the 1/72 Czech master resin kit. It comes with no history, only a three view drawing and a explanation scheme for the assembly. No decals are provided. The resin has some bubbles but nothing really annoying.

I built this kit almost OOB, I only replaced all of the struts. I use MisterKit acrylic paints and Americal Gryphon decals for the lozenge scheme. The numbers are homemade with a laser printer onto a transparent decal sheet. The other marking come from various aftermarket decals.

This kit was pleasant to build even if the central struts structure was not too easy to deal with.

Hansa Brandenburg W29

Kit: MPM (1:72)

This is the upgraded 1/72 MPM kit. I made it almost OOB. I only changed the struts which where too brittle by some Contrail stuff. The resin parts are very well cast, a real improvement compare to the not upgraded kit.

The paints used are from the Misterkit range. The rear MG is from PART and the barrel wrap of the front MG's are from COPPER STATE MODELS as for the propeller boss.

A big Thank you to Ross who was my secret Santa last year and who sent to me this kit .

Paul Baumer Pfalz D.VIII

Kit: Ardpol (1:72)

The plane

This plane was especially good for interception duty because of its fast climb ability, thanks to its Siemens Halske Sh.III motor.

The kit

It is very well cast, as usual. I only added photo etched machine-gun as well as control horns. The lozenge decals are from Americal Gryphon, like the propeller markings. The propeller is painted with oil paints. The Pfalz D.VII can also be done with this kit with very few modification.

Fokker E V / D VIII

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

This is the 1/72 Eduard kit, build pretty OOB. I just added the pilot harness and used Eagle Strike lozenge.

Fokker F1

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

This is the Eduard 1/72 kit, Profipack. I also used the Rosemont resin upgrade which contain a new top wing, a cowl and the tailplane. The streaky camo is made with a coat of Misterkit Albatros pale blue airbrushed and then Misterkit fokker olive green handbrushed.

Jasta 5 Albatros D.V

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

When I bought the Albatros Eduard Dual Combo, I immediately had a big problem : which marking to choose ?

In fact, I didn't choose, I started 6 Albatros D.V together !!!

The fuselage

I started to scratch the hand pump and added some details onto the engine. The rest of the building process is quite straightforward. The color photoetched parts is a nice touch. I also added some wires at various places. Now, it is time to close the fuselages.

Roland D VIa

Kit: MAC (1:72)

The kit

This is the 1/72 MAC kit, almost OOB. I only added a wooden propeller, some modified decals and replaced some PE parts which were too flat in my opinion. I also use the PE control horn from PART.

I used the 4 comour lozenge scheme from Eagle Strike. It went well, no major problem but it became very fragile with the seting solution.

You can find the complete descrition of the assembly on my website at http://perso.club-internet.fr/egallaud/
