Fokker D.VII

This is the Revell Fokker D.VII 1/72 kit, which is perhaps the best kit in the Collectors series. The model was "state-of-the-art" in 1984, not intentionally, it was supposed to be a quickie, but after the decals went on, I realised I might be on to a winner. So I added a complete interior from above, even to the extent of covering the inside walls with toned-down lozenge, IPMS-USA fotoetched spandaus, an aeroclub engine that I shoehorned into the nose, a carved wood prop, microscale lozenge decals and my first attempt with floor-polish as varnish. I finished it at 4pm the morning before the swedish nat's, got fetched at 6pm for the trip to Stockholm, and finally had time to go and have a good look at it when they announced that it won the 1/72 class. It was good in it's day, but now I realise how little we knew then! The decals are purported to be for Rudolf Stark, but they are not, they are for a Jasta 2 machine, and the ace of spades was probably black
