ICM 1/72 Fokker E.IV

Kit: ICM (1:72)

This is the ICM 1/72 scale Fokker EIV with a few modifications to get rid of the more glaring errors. The out of the box model is a bit confused as to whether its the prototype or standard production aircraft. Which means it fails at both. The quick fix to this is to sand off the side engine panels and replace with ones shaped to look like the production aircraft from plastic card. Whilst doing this I re-skinned the upper fuselage and thinned the wings to get rid of the starved horse look. Other than that this model was built out of the box with only plastic card replacements for small detail parts.

The Engine Turning effect was obtained by using a steel prismacolour pencil over Testors Chrome plate and was really simple and effective (It helps to dullcote the chrome first for the pencil to bite into). One item I forgot to fix was the gun setup. I should have made the setup symetrical. Oh well next model.

The aircraft as modeled belongs to Leutnant Kurt Wintgens of Feld Flieger Abteilung 6b. This is the subject of the profile in Windsock Mini Datafile #7.
