Sopwith Camel

Kit: Roden (1:72)

Some in-progress shots

Sopwith 2F1 Ship Camel

Kit: Roden (1:72)

Eduard Sopwith Baby

Kit: Eduard (1:72)

This is the Eduard Baby. The kit is one of their first (I believe) and is quite crude. I based this model on Bob Pearson's profile of the Norwegian Baby. The landing gear, struts, and tail skid assembly are all scratched. The National markings are airbrushed. Rigging is Ethicon stainless, and the wheels are from the spares box.

Sopwith Batboat

Kit: Joystick (1:72)

The kit was a gift from Dave Rhuling (thanks Dave) and had sat in a drawer for three years after having cut out only the wings.

It is painted in Model Master Italian brown, Tamiya clear orange, and Panzer interior buff. Rigging is Ethicon surgical stainless steel. The seats control horns, and boom are all scratch-built. A Foto-etch prop boss was fitted to the kit supplied metal prop. All struts are Contrail strut stock. The wingtip floats are Ilya Muromets fuel tanks that have been shortened.

Thanks to all the usual suspects for their support and advice.

Pegasus Sopwith Dolphin

Kit: Pegasus (1:72)

This is the Pegasus Dolphin. The kit was purchased at the 2002 Nationals , and was completed in four days. The center section of the top wing was replaced with evergreen rod, and all the control surfaces were cut and repositioned. Control horns were added to all control surfaces with evergreen strip stock. Rigging is Ethicon stainless. Decals are from the kit. Special thanks to Andrei Koribaniks for the use of his Rhinebeck Dolphin photos.

Toko Sopwith Salamander

Kit: Toko (1:72)

This is the Toko Sopwith Salamander. Built oob, and rigged with Ethicon .005 stainless. All decals are from the kit. The model was painted gloss black and then string coated with craft glue (called Tack it Over and Over) was applied. Each section was airbrushed, and the srting removed....leaving black division lines. All control horns were then restored with Evergreen strip stock, after application of the decals.

Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter

Kit: Toko (1:72)

This is the Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter. Built OOB and rigged with Ethicon stainless. Lead foil seatbelts have been added. The model was painted in Model Master Panzer interior buff, and Model Master Faded Olive Drab. The struts and landing gear were "wood grained" using a Berol dark brown pencil over Model Master Wood. Then hand painted with Future to soften the lines. The same method was used on the propeller. All decals are from the kit. The aileron control horns were replaced with Evergreen stock.

Collishaw's Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter

Kit: Toko (1:72)

This is the Toko Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter. Built OOB...lead foil seatbelts added, and rigged with Ethicon stainless. This represents Collishaw's plane according to the instruction sheet.
