Roden Oeffag Albatros D.II

Kit: Roden (1:72)

This is the Roden Albatros D.II (s53 Oeffeg). Some details were added to the interior such as an instrument bar, lead foil seatbelts and a fuel pressure pump. The model was painted with Model Master paints and Tamiya clear yellow. The panel lines were scribed and an oil wash applied. Kit decals were used. Woodgrain effect was achieved with pencils. Rigging is Ethicon stainless.

HitKit Oeffag Albatros DIII

Kit: HitKit (1:72)

This is the HitKit Albatros DIII (series 253). The kit was built with a lot of help from the spares box, as the parts sprue was nearly a solid sheet of flash. Replacement parts consist of the wheels, "N" and "V" struts, the horizontal stabilizer, the rudder, the spreader bar and the propeller. National markings are from an Americal Gryphon sheet. The model is painted in French Chestnut and Panzer interior buff. Fully rigged with Ethicon stainless. An oil wash was used to bring out some details. Probably the worst kit I have ever attempted to build.

Roden Albatros DIII Oeffag S253

Kit: Roden (1:72)

This is the Roden Albatros DIII Oeggag S 253 the last modification of the AH fighter. The kit comes with decals for five different a/c. I chose w/n 253.06 flown by Oblt.Friedrich Navratil of Flik 3J. Seatbelts, a fuel pressure pump, and Ethicon stainless steel rigging were added. The ailerons were re-positioned as was the horizontal tail plane. The control horns were replaced with evergreen strip stock. The model was painted CDL and woodgrain, then stipple camouflaged using field green, Euro 1 green and french Chestnut. Decals are from the kit and left overs from the HitKit S253.

Roden Albatros Oeffag S153

Kit: Roden (1:72)

This is the Roden Albatros Oeffag S153 (early). The kit comes with decals to build over twenty possibilities. I opted for w/n 153.29 flown by Othmar Wolfan. The build was straight forward. Seatbelts, a fuel pressure pump, and Ethicon stainless streel rigging were added. The horizontal tail plane was cut and re-positioned. The control horns were replaced with Evergreen. The fuselage was woodgrained using the "Laskodi" method. All decals are from the kit.
