Airfix Roland C.2

Kit: Airfix (1:72)

This is the ancient 1/72 Airfix Roland. Originally built six years ago. Totally rebuilt and full interior added, using a Roseplanes generic seat. Seatbelts are fly tying lead flattened with an exacto handle used as a rolling pin. Rigging is .005 surgical wire. Framing around windows was added using .010 X .030 evergreen stock and the entire l/g is scratch built using evergreen .035 rod stock. The original l/g was destroyed in the rebuild. The wheels are Roseplanes resin as is the rear mounted parabellum m/g. Screen from a bug vacuum was added to the cooling vents on the fuselage sides. All national markings are Americal/Griffen. Special thanks to Bob Laskodi for the inspiration.

Airfix Roland C.2

Kit: Airfix (1:72)

Airfix 1/72 Roland. Full interior (scratched bulkheads and floor). Roseparts wheels, seat, and rear m/g. Paint is Gunze Violet and Field Gray over light blue. Window framing added from .010X.030 evergreen flat stock. Windows replaced with crystal clear. Fully rigged with .005 surgical wire. The "platform" over the forward m/g was replaced with copper wire, and painted to match a photo of a real Roland. Screen was added to the coolers on the fuselage sides. I painted this in Violet and green, but it comes out as light blue and green.
